Another Huge Hog - Boss Hawg! 1,040 lb ‘WILD’ Pig
Posted by Darrell under: Pig; Rantings Of An Outdoorsman .
After all the controversy surrounding the 1,051 lb hog killed by 11 year old Jamison last month, you’d think we wouldn’t be hearing about any NEW monsterous wild pig stories for a while. Think again! Today an article came out in Star Telegram (a texas news paper) about Boss Hawg - a 1,040 lb ‘WILD’ pig killed by hunter Roger Hosfelt.
I’m not sure I’d want my picture and story circulating right now if the story involves a wild pig. According to the story on Star-Telegram, Boss Hawg is claimed to be a ‘wild’ pig and weighed a whopping 1,040 pounds. He was killed on a 3500 acre hunting plantation. If you want to see what a 1,000+ pound pig looks like you can check the plantation site out at eganhill.com.
I hope the media lets the whole monster wild pig thing drop soon. It is just giving fodder to the anti’s (the PETA crowd) and painting a negative picture of hunting. The Star Telegram doesn’t bother mentioning that this pig was killed back in early March, almost 2 months prior to Jamison’s monster pig and the controversy surrounding it. It appears that the media might be trying to keep this whole ’wild pig’ thing stirred up. I’m all for hunting pigs (it is a lot of fun and provides some excellent table fare), let’s just keep the sensationalism and media out of it.
I’ll end with one of the comments on Field & Stream’s Field Notes comment area “What happened to just going out and enjoying the experience?”
