Hogzilla 2 - Follow up to the 1000 lb wild pig hog saga

Posted by Darrell under: Pig .

1000 lb hog - Hogzilla 2 - Monster PigI originally posted about Jamison Stone, an 11 year old hunter, and his monstrous pig back on April 27. Since then a lot has happened (news wise) for Jamison and his dad Mike. In addition to being bombarded with hateful (and sometimes threatening) emails from the anti-hunting crowd - the media apparently picked up this story and really ran with it.

A news story went out that reffered to the monster pig that Jamison killed as ‘the family pet’. I just went on a bear hunt in Alaska where I harvested a monster black bear. I was excited and proud of the bear I took. I’m sure Jamison felt this same way. I can’t even imagine how I’d feel if the media picked up the story of my bear hunt and then openly accused me of killing someone’s family pet.

This is what has happened with Jamison. He has been attacked on all fronts and his dad has been trying to defend him. I personally think the whole thing sucks. People need to leave this kid alone. Send him a “congratulations, that’s a nice pig and I’m glad you are eating it” and then leave him be. Let him go back to being a kid.

With everything that is wrong in todays world, it is a realy shame that people (some of which who refer to themselves as reporters) have time to spend berating a kid for hunting a pig. So, once again, I’d like to say “Nice pig, Jamison! Congrats!”

Here are some recent blog postings and articles about the pig. If you find any that are POSITIVE, please send themto me and I’ll post links:

An Eulogy for a pig! This is an interesting post because the guy is trying to see both sides of the issue.

Monster Pig. Monster Story. The whole picture is more logical, but it doesn’t diminish this kid in any way.

A Modest Monster Pig Proposal For Peace. I, too, wonder how many barrels of oil you could get for a 1,000 lb pig.

‘Monster Pig Was Huge’ - Just Not Wild. I think this article might have got it wrong. Don’t lots of ‘feral’ pigs begin life on farms?

Pig Was A Monster, But He Wasn’t Wild. Again, I guess it is all in how you define WILD. Let’s just congratulate the kid and move on.

One Comment so far...

[…] bother mentioning that this pig was killed back in early March, almost 2 months prior to Jamison’s monster pig and the controversy surrounding it. It appears that the media might be trying to keep this whole ’wild pig’ thing […]
