May 24, 2007 - 3 Days to Alaska

Posted by Darrell under: Alaska; My Journal .

What I did today to prepare:

I didn’t do much. I shot my bow a little. I didn’t want to blow out my shoulder as I’ve been shooting A LOT for the past couple weeks and hundreds on hundreds of 70# draws are starting to get to me.

I went and got my cash for the trip. $2,000 in cash! I’d rather have too much than not enough, though.

I’ve been searching the web for things to do around Juneau. We will have a few days before and after the hunt and want to make sure we get the most of them. I found one post on a JuneauĀ blogĀ about taking the Mount Roberts Tramway. I’ve planned to do this. I’ve actually been on the Tramway before, as my wife and I rode the tram to the top of the mountain and hiked back down during a day excursion on our Alaskan cruise (one of my inspirations for this trip) a couple years ago. Caleb should love it.

The Alaska blog I like the best so far is by an Alaskan journalist named Jill. She has a post about stupid tourist questions (and answers). It’s pretty funny and a great reminder that asking dumb questions won’t make me any friends. BTW, does a dumb answer balance out a dumb question? Does everyone in Alaska have a sense of humor? Hope my outfitter does!
