Getting My Bow Prepared for My Alaska Black Bear Hunt

I’m working hard to prepare for my Black Bear Hunt. My departure for Alaska is just 10 days away. I’ve been shooting my bow every day and am getting pretty good out to about 50 yards. Although, I don’t plan on taking any shots at over 30 yards. I’m having my bow re-strung today and adding a new Extreme Site with 5 pins. Larry at the bow shop, Hunter’s Archery USA, sold me on Winner’s Choice string over Zebra. He assured me it would be better and from what I hear he is one of the best! I can’t wait to write about how the new site does and if I can tell any difference from the string.
I bought a new bow case at Cabellas - an SKB double case. It wasn’t cheap, but it looks like one heck of a good case. I’ll know for sure when I return from Alaska. This is my first archery hunt for anything that can fight back so I’m hoping to get my bow really dialed in. I’m having it adjusted to full draw weight - which should be about 70lbs. I shoot a Redhead XP-35, using redhead carbon 250 arrows and Monteg G5 100 grain broadheads. I’ll let you know how this set up does on BIG Alaskan Black bears!
