Buying Your Spearfishing Gear
Posted by Darrell under: SPEARFISH HUNTING! .
I’ve received several emails from individuals asking me where they can get spearfishing gear. I buy most of my gear from LEISURE PRO.
In addition to your normal scuba gear, you will need a speargun, a fish stringer that can be used easily underwater, a good dive knife, and preferably a good pair of gloves. I also like to have a good dive light for looking in holes and stumps and under ledges.

I use a sling spear for hogfish, but I’m thinking of upgrading to a regular speargun

Try Euro guns (cressi, picasso). They are extremely efficient guns in the way they utilize the power from the bands. Very useful when you want to “reach out and touch” a fish in the distance. I regularly shoot passing fish at more than 10- 15 feet, and usually the shaft goes clean through, all the way to the shooting line.
I have used JBL for years until I got my first euro gun, and now I’ll never go back.
