A Spearfishing Virgin Steals The Show

Travis, my spearfishing virgin friend, stole the show on June 17th - the third day of Arkansas spearfishing. I often write on how much fun it is to teach someone how to hunt of fish. Travis had four veteran spearfishing teachers. I must say that, in this case, the student schooled the teachers.
Travis limited out both days. His second day limit, however, was more than impressive. In addition to these pictures, I was fortunate to be able to film Travis spearing one of these monsters. I’ll try to post it sometime soon.

Alright - by spear fishing, you meant spearfishing! Holy smokes, I didn’t even know people did that stuff outside of the ocean! Man, those are some great pictures! and some big ol cats!

Wow…those are some big fish. I’ve never tried spear fishing…it seems like it would be difficult.

A friend of mine does spearfishing and it sounds like a blast. He makes videos of some of his spear fishing ventures and posts them to YouTube. If you search for “spear fishing Wisconsin”, he posts under the name “whopperhead”. He’s got one video from when they went under the ice last winter. You can see the fish gathering by a warm water inlet. There’s some HUGE fish that he is not spearing for, but that come close to check him out. Do you know of any women that spearfish?

I didn’t realize how long it had been since I stopped in at AlphaTrilogy.com. Looks like your outdoor successes continue! Those are some great cats, and congrats on the turkey and the hogs. Also, thanks for the mention in the post from back in May.

Wild Woods Woman: I don’t know any women personally that spearfish on a regular basis. However, on our last trip - which I’ll be posting about soon, My friend Thad’s wife gave it a try. She missed a cat and I think had a great time, since when it was done she instructed Thad to buy her a speargun.
