The Fly Caster Who Tried To Make PEACE With The World - REVIEW part 1
Posted by Darrell under: Gear - Tips, Reviews, Wishlist .
I’m preparing to leave for the hunting trip of a lifetime with my friend Dana (more about this later). I spent yesterday evening and this morning packing and making sure I had everything I needed. Somewhere between packing my skivvies and guns I realized that I needed a book to bring. Most hunters I know like to take a good book along on a hunting trip and I realized that I was fresh out of unread good books. I actually pencilled in “stop at barnes and noble” on my list of things to try to accomplish today, right after “visit sister and brand new niece”.
Imagine my suprise when I arrived at my office and found a fresh unread novel waiting for me. And to make matters even better, the novel appears to be about something I’m quite fond of - fishing, although after reading the back cover I realize it might also contain a healthy dose of drama, tragedy, and enlightenment.
Anyway, this book has arrived at the perfect time. I’ve now got something to read in Iowa! You might be wondering just how this book magically appeared at the exact moment that I was needing a book to read and just hours before my departure for the Iowa wilderness (is there such thing as a corn wilderness?).
Randy Kadish, the author of this book, sent me an email back a couple weeks ago and asked if I’d be willing to review his newest novel on my blog. In his own words he described it as “the story is about the history of fly fishing and fly casting in America. Many of the scenes take place on or near the Beaverkill River.”
What literate outdoorsman would refuse to review a book about fishing? Anyway, true to his word, he shipped me off a copy and I magically received it on the very day I needed a good book to read.
I’ll have a review for you when I return from Iowa.
In the meantime, here is some information on the author, just in case you want to buy a copy now:
Randy Kadish is an outdoor writer whose work has appeared in many magazines, including Flyfisher, Flyfishing & Tying Journal, and Fishing and Hunting News. I found the book offered for sale on Amazon and for more information on the book or author go to The Fly and Spin Casting Site.
