A Picture Of The Big Cat! Is it a Giant Bob Cat?

A couple weeks ago, my friend Jeff and I saw a big cat while turkey hunting. This cat was bigger than my mature chocolate lab and bigger than Jeff’s german shepherd. I still don’t have a clue what kind of cat it is. I’ve never seen a bobcat that is even close to 1/3 of this size. I’d guess it to be 80-100 lbs. Do bobcats get this big?

I have never even saw a bobcat before so I would have no clue. Wish I could help. It is one big cat whatever it is!

I’ve got no idea. It looks kind of like it has tufted ears. I’m guessing it wouldnt’ be a lynx, because I don’t think they’re native to your part of the country. I could be wrong about that though.

Yes, sir. That is a Bobcat. The southern part of Missouri is supposed to have an abundant population of the cats which is growing northward. Iowa has even gotten a hunting season for them now. They are rare catches to the camera lense,very sly creatures. Good cellphone picture.

I wouldn’t believe you if it wasn’t for the fact that I found a body of a very large Bobcat at the foot of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California. I had taken my Pitbull out for a run in the country when I spotted a very large cat dead on the side of the road. My Pitbull was fairly large (70 lbs.) the cat was huge and it had been shot through the chest with a highpower rifle. The Bobcat was every bit as big as my dog. I didn’t think Bobcats got that big until I actually saw one albeit dead.

I work in a park north of Dallas, Texas and we have fairly good population of bobcats. One of those cats that we have is huge, I dont know the weight but he was easily as tall and long as the one you describe. The first time I saw him (or her) I thought I was seeing a cougar until I saw the short tail.

You idiots, if thats a cell pic you would have had to be 10 ft. from the cat. You could never get that close let alone have time to shoot a pic. Also based on the size of the leaves behind the cat and its standing pose, as well as its lack of reaction to the two drunk idiots its looking right at. Its clearly about a 7-10 pound house cat.
