Rainy Days and Mondays

The song says something about “rainy days and mondays always get me down”. As a kid this was really true for me. A rainy day meant I was likely going to be stuck inside and Monday was even worse - return to school day.
Last Friday, as I sat at my desk and listened to the thunderstorm raging outside I really recalled those old days of rain induced depression. I have way too much to do and rain isn’t in my plans. I have a boat to get ready for spearfishing, several treestands to hang, others to clean up around, ten feeders that need filled, and about 15 game cameras that need checked!
Rain just doesn’t fit into my plans. Even so, I probably should take advantage of the time to catch up on my blog. Yet, I just remembered the really cool Helly Hansen rain suit I ended up buying while in Alaska for my bear hunt. Now, thanks to the proper gear, I don’t have to let the rain slow me down. Who knew that an Alaska Spring bear hunt would help me better manage my late summer time!

We’ve finally been getting some rain here and it’s been terrific. We’ve had a very dry summer for Northern Michigan. It’s great to see everything looking so green again.

Enjoy your boat! Isn’t it ironic that you are using the boat to be totally submersed in water (spearfishing), yet rain (water) could potentially hold you back? Have fun out there!!!

Eeeps! That’s quite the downpour hey? Yeh, that’s enough to spook the poor fish around here for at least a couple days! The weather has been pretty poor around here as well.

The way I look at rain days, anything you get done is kind of a bonus. Rainy days were also the only time I didn’t mind being in school.

Yeah rain does stink. I do love it when it rains during the salmon and steelhead runs around here though..Makes the fish move and keeps people off the river. I just put on the rainsuit and go at it. Love it. The proper gear makes all the difference

We had our years supply of rain by July 15 and I hear it thundering outside right now. Too much rain will mess up our fishing which was just starting to get good!
