The Ultimate Scuba Dive Boat
Posted by Darrell under: A Trilogy - 3 Methods of Pursuit .
I’ve spent lots of money so far this year renting pontoon boats for the sole purpose of spearfishing. So, I just bought this gargantuan party hut (28′ pontoon boat) so that I won’t need to do any more renting. On the positive side, I got a great deal on the boat. On the negative side, it needs some electrical work.
My problem is that I didn’t buy a trailer for the boat and am supposed to be returning the one I borrowed today. However, I’m redoing the entire electrical system as well as adding some additional components like a fish finder and tank storage racks. When I’m done the boat should be set up pretty nicely for scuba diving (spearfishing). Unfortunately, finishing the crazy thing and getting it launched at the lake isn’t going to be easy to do if it doesn’t stop raining.
So, if it ever stops raining, I should end up with a great spearfishing boat. It is amazing what you can buy for about $6,000! Although, I’ve already spent another $1,000 in junk for it. Here is a picture of what I hope will become the Ultimate Scuba Diving Spearfishing Boat:

A nice little rig. I’ve never spear fished or even scuba dived for that matter. Looks pretty cool though. A neat little project boat.

Hey, Darrell… congrats on the new purchase!
Two simple aphorisms for ya…
First, the happiest two days in a boat-owner’s life are the day he buys his boat and the day he gets rid of it.
Second, A boat is a hole in the water, into which one pours money.

Oops.. hit submit before I could say, “just joshing ya!”
Enjoy the boat. That ought to be perfect for inshore diving and fooling around on the lakes.

Painting a boat used to be a reasonably simple task. All one needed was a fine dry day, one of Dad’s paintbrushes, some turps, a roll of masking tape, a bit of pink primer left over from the decorating and a half gallon of shiny blue enamel paint from the local hardware store…they were the days!
