The Future of the Outdoors - My Kids Artwork

Ok, I stole this idea from Matt at Bright Ideas Outdoors Weblog. He did a post on Monday entitled Outdoor Artist of the Future which motivated me to do my own posts about my kids art. One of the pictures below hangs prominently in my office. My daughter ‘composed it’ when she was 5 years old.
The priceless work of art shows me holding a gun with a dead buck bleeding at my feet. Half of the visitors to my office comment on how terrific a picture it is. The other half furrow their brows and occassionally someone musters up the courage to ask “just exactly what is that supposed to be?”. I always reply candidly and excitedly “It is a dead deer that my daughter drew for me when she was just 5!”
“Oh” is the shocked reply. I can always tell by the facial expression that anyone that must ask ‘what’ it is, instantly thinks that my daughter will grow up to be a serial killer. Amazingly, it never stops them from trying to put together a ‘business deal’.
I treasure the artwork that my children have done and given me. My wife and I have it hanging throughout our home. In fact I recently shelled out a nearly $1,000 check for framing of my children’s art. We love it that much! The pictures below are either hanging in my office or in a drawer in my office awaiting frames.
These ‘artists’ are the future of our outdoors.
