The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry

Robert Burns, when he penned the above phrase, sure new what he was talking about! I had eagerly anticipated working on some deer stands and clearing some brush today. Well, “awry” accurately describes those plans. It all started when my wife reminded me that we were having company tonight.
“Yeah, yeah, I’ll be back in plenty of time” I informed her.
“Have you bothered looking at the yard lately?” she then asked me.
“Uhhh, not really” I replied with concern in my voice. Not concern over the yard, mind you, just concern about my deer stands.
That was the beginning of the end of my day. By the time I finished mowing, it had begun raining. I’m certainly not a fair weather hunter. I’ve hunted in some deluges that would get Noah’s attention. But, clearing brush and setting up treestands just doesn’t rateĀ as high as hunting. I guess having 3 months left to prepare for something kinda lessonsĀ the urgency?
So, no brush clearing or tree stand hanging for me today. Maybe tomorrow?
